Finding Hunting Land in Upstate New York

 

As summer winds to a close our minds can’t help but wonder “How many days til hunting season?”And the answer is, “It depends”. It depends on where you are, what you’re hunting and what you’re hunting with. The earliest reported dates are Sept 27 – Oct 19 for bow hunting in the northern zone.

There are thousands of acres of state lands, including Wildlife Management Areas, State Parks  and State Forests, open for hunting and trapping during the various seasons. Here is a list of NYS Hunting Lands and a list of NYS Animal Management Areas.  Hope this helps.  With Special Firearms Deer Season in Suffolk County lasting through the last weekend in January, there’ll be plenty of time to bag the big one.
