Catskill History: Peg-Leg Bates – The One Legged Black Tap Dancer & Catskills Resort Owner

A lot of history in these mountains. While researching a property in Kerhonkson, I came across this. Between 1951 and the mid-80s, Peg-Leg Bates the one legged black tap dancer owned the largest black owned resort in the Catskills, the Peg-Leg Bates Country Club in Kerhonkson NY. He appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show 21 times.
