SET UP A WEBSITE

You don’t have to be a tech guru or web designer to get your own website set up for very little money. There are many, many tools online that will help you establish your online presence – and many of these tools are free. A simple search for ‘create a website’ or ‘build a website’ will give you many options for how to get started. One relatively simple (and free!) site to check out is WordPress. WordPress creates already-designed website templates. All you have to do is select the style you like and add your own text, logos and pictures.

HOSTING

You’ll need a “host” for your website. A host is a server (a big computer) that’s basically the place your website “lives.” When people access your site, their computers are talking with the server host and that’s how people can view your site. There are many, many options for web hosting at many price points. Make sure to shop around.

WHAT DO YOU PUT ON YOUR WEBSITE?

The internet is about content. The more content you provide, the better. Of course you’ll list your properties for sale on your site, but you’ll need ways of getting more people to look at your properties and increase your chances of a sale. Providing content is one very important way of doing that. But what kind of content?

Articles can be one effective and strategic tool to increase your site’s profile. Write about topics relevant to the areas where you’re selling your property. Write about anything that has to do with what you’re selling. You can then post these articles on your website as well as all around the internet; there are many sites that collect and aggregate electronic articles. You can also post the articles on your Facebook page and allow your social network to share your content.
