I first caught the real estate bug about 6 years ago when a realtor friend of mine convinced me to invest in a rental property in the ‘sizzling HOT’ Florida real estate market. Over the objections of my wife, I purchased a small 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa in a Clearwater and secured a tenant  whose rent covered my mortgage, taxes and insurance with a few extra bucks to spare. Within 6 months, my property increased by about 30% and I was the smartest guy on the planet. My wife couldn’t even argue. Then we all know what happened. Today I still own that property and let’s just say it’s declined in value.When my last tenant moved out it cost me about 5 grand to put the place back together again in order to rent it. Boy did I get bit by the real estate bug..
